REGISTER FOR MEMBERSHIP
When you register for membership with BMG Online Lettings we advertise and promote your accommodation for short-term rental and we provide you with your own account that allows you to organise and manage your own bookings online.
Your account allows you to set up automatic rental rates per night, per week, per month or per person. You can also adjust your rental charges for peak rates or discount periods. Your guests can then search your accommodation on the BMG website and make enquiries and book online through our website.
You manage your own online calendar and decide when and how often you want to rent your property. Whether it is for a few days, a few weeks or a few months, it is entirely up to you. You can even stipulate the minimum or maximum amount of days that you are prepared to offer your accommodation to guests for, our booking system will automatically set the details for you so that your clients can only book the way you want them too.
The agreement you have with BMG is non-exclusive and does not restrict any other rental arrangement you have elsewhere. So whilst you must honour bookings made through the BMG website, you can still take bookings privately. But of course you must always keep your calendar up to date. We only deduct a 10% booking fee for bookings taken through our online facility.
What do we offer that the other short-term rental sites don’t? BMG Online Lettings is not a letting agent. We don’t aim to add to the mass of high street and online agents competing for a percentage of rental income by merely being there. We actively promote all of our members properties and encourage guests to visit the locations we represent. Our aim is to actively promote the use of private serviced accommodation as a better alternative to a hotel. We also want to work with our members and clients and listen to your suggestions on how we can make the BMG website better to use. We offer our members:
  • FREE Membership.
  • FREE listing with your own webpage.
  • Secure terms and conditions.
  • A facility to manage your own bookings online.
  • Flexibility to modify your listings and pricing.
  • A simple pricing system per person, per day, per week or per month.
  • A facility to offer discounts and peak rates.
  • A guide to good letting for independent owners.
  • Regular updates on peak rental periods.
  • The potential to increase your rental income.
  • A competitive 10% fee when using our online booking system.

You may be new to short-term letting, or you may want to develop your service, or you may just want to increase your revenue. Whatever your status we can help to improve it. We can source the best cleaning, laundry and furnishing services and even negotiate preferential rates on your behalf.
Setting up and managing your accommodation pages is relatively simple and straightforward, and in order to take you through this process stage-by stage we have produced a comprehensive guide which includes our Guide To Good Letting which includes a variety of information including:
  • The minimum amenities and requirements your accommodation should have to ensure your guests are satisfied and want to return.
  • The necessary insurances required for your legal protection and peace of mind.
  • A basic draft rental agreement between owners and guests.
  • Updates about special dates, festivals and events when peak rental charges may be applied.
  • Quick and easy instructions on how to manage bookings, add accommodation, amend your calendar and upload pictures and information on to your property page.
Why would somebody want to rent my accommodation when they can use a hotel?
All over the world more and more people are using serviced apartments rather than hotels because they represent a better quality of accommodation for the price. Hotels are formal, impersonal, generally expensive and not exactly great value for money. In most budget hotels, aside from a few sachets of tea and coffee and a bit of soap and shampoo, you get very little for your money apart from a bed, a bathroom and a tiny TV. A standard private serviced apartment has a lounge and dining area and comes equipped with fitted kitchen, appliances, a full set of crockery, cutlery and glassware, microwave oven, DVD and CD player. Many of our serviced apartments also have a balcony or terrace, washing machine, dishwasher, large screen TV, Wi-Fi, and even an en-suite bathroom. As a private apartment owner you can agree a mutually convenient time for your guests to leave without rigidly sticking to the usual 11am check out. Most modern private apartments have intercom security systems or a concierge service, so your guests will never be told by a grumpy security guard that they cannot bring visitors back for a night cap. Because you are a private owner rather than a corporate entity, you have the option of being as flexible and reasonable as you choose with your guests, and that is what many people prefer.
What you need before you decide to register for membership.
First of all you need to make sure that you have regular access to the internet, as everything with BMG is done through the website. Ideally it would also be better if you had a form of mobile of internet access because BMG ensure that users receive confirmation within 48 hours of making an enquiry. However, as long as you can gain access to the internet on a daily basis to confirm bookings you will be fine.
You will need to take 6 good photographs of your property as these are what users see when they are choosing their accommodation. These should be in digital format and no more than 500MB in size
You will need to do a list of all the amenities and facilities that your accommodation comes with as all accommodation listed on the BMG website provide the basic amenities for the number of occupants:
  • Running hot and cold water.
  • Private bathroom and/or shower and toilet.
  • Kitchen and appliances.
  • Fully functional heating.
  • A full set of clean bedding and a full set of clean towels.
  • A full set of clean pots and pans and basic cooking utensils.
  • A full set of clean cutlery, crockery and glassware for each guest of a full occupancy of the accommodation.
  • Basic cleaning products are also suggested – you want to encourage the guests to treat your property as their own.
BMG also strongly suggests that no personal photos, documents, valuable items or personal effects should be left in the accommodation, although pictures and ornaments are not a bad idea.
